Gorkha, September 1
Residents in Gorkha staged a protest by placing empty gas cylinders on the road, protesting a prolonged shortage of cooking gas.
Residents of Chorkate in Siranchok Rural Municipality-4 placed empty cylinders on the road on Tuesday as a symbolic protest.
“There has been a severe shortage of cooking gas here since mid-June,” said resident Madan Shrestha. “Even the gas that arrives is sent entirely to Gorkha Bazaar.”
He said the shortage had made it difficult for households to cook and warned that residents would launch a stronger protest if supplies were not restored.
“Today, we have only issued a warning. If we do not get gas, we will intensify our protest,” the locals said.
