Kathmandu, August 31
Thirty-three of the 48 people injured in the Bhotekoshi River flood in Rasuwa on 10 Bhadra and brought to the National Trauma Centre in Kathmandu for treatment have been discharged.
According to Dan Bahadur Thapa, spokesperson and Superintendent of Police at the Kathmandu District Police Range, 48 people injured in the flood were rescued and brought to the National Trauma Centre for treatment. So far, 33 have been discharged after their health improved during treatment.
Fifteen injured people are currently receiving treatment at the National Trauma Centre, Superintendent Thapa said. According to the hospital administration, the condition of most of those receiving treatment is normal.
Nepal Police has established citizen assistance desks at Bir Hospital and the National Trauma Centre to provide necessary information to relatives of people injured or missing in the Bhotekoshi flood.
Family members of missing people have been visiting the assistance desks to obtain information about the health condition of injured relatives and to register details of those who remain out of contact, Thapa said. Relatives visiting the hospitals are also receiving updates on their family members’ health and treatment.
Police said search and rescue operations are still continuing in the affected areas following the extensive loss of life and property caused by the Bhotekoshi flood. Relevant agencies are coordinating with the injured, victims and families of missing people and providing necessary assistance alongside medical treatment for those rescued.
Rescue and relief operations have been intensified following the floods, with priority being given to searching for missing people, treating the injured and providing necessary support to affected families.
