Kathmandu, August 30
Water levels in several rivers have crossed danger and alert levels following heavy rainfall in different parts of the country.
According to the Flood Forecasting Division, the level in the Trishuli River in Dhading is currently three metres above the danger level.
The rise in the Trishuli’s water level has been attributed to flooding from the Bhotekoshi River area of Rasuwa.
The division has also warned of rising levels in the Narayani River and its tributaries after heavy rainfall was recorded in several watersheds across Gandaki Province. Residents living along riverbanks have been urged to remain alert.
Meanwhile, the water level in the Sunkoshi River at the Khurkot hydrological station in Sindhuli has also crossed the alert level. Residents in areas along the river have been advised to exercise caution.
Very heavy rainfall was recorded in Sindhupalchok over the past 24 hours. The rainfall has resulted in rising levels in rivers downstream of the affected areas, according to the Flood Forecasting Division.
