Kathmandu, August 28
A total of 547 bodies have been recovered so far following the floods that swept through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers on Wednesday, according to Nepal Police.
The bodies have been recovered from eight districts, with the highest number reported in Chitwan.
According to police, 13 bodies have been found in Rasuwa, 38 in Nuwakot, 40 in Dhading, 44 in Gorkha, 134 in Nawalpur, 28 in Nawalparasi, 29 in Tanahun and 221 in Chitwan.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) said 977 people remain unaccounted for.
Of those reported missing, 28 are from Nepal Police, 45 from the Nepali Army, 13 from the Armed Police Force, 15 from customs offices and four from immigration offices. Another 162 people from Rasuwa and Nuwakot have also been reported missing.
According to Nepal Police, 1,473 people have been rescued so far.
Search and rescue operations are continuing in the flood-affected areas.
