NagarikAlert is set to deploy drones to flood-affected areas to locate people waiting for rescue and help deliver relief supplies.
The organisation said it will send two thermal drones on Friday to search for people who may still be stranded in disaster-hit areas. The drones can detect the body heat of people and animals, helping identify whether survivors are present in areas that are difficult to access.
The drones are being deployed to help determine whether people waiting for rescue are still alive, according to NagarikAlert.
The organisation will also use drones to deliver relief supplies, said its CEO, Yujesh Maleku.
Two of the drones can carry up to 100 kilograms of relief materials each. Another drone can carry up to 50 kilograms, while two others can carry up to 15 kilograms each.
Maleku said two drone pilots, along with relief materials, will also be transported to the affected areas by helicopter on Friday.
The drone operation is aimed at reaching areas that remain difficult to access following the floods and helping authorities locate stranded people and deliver essential supplies.
