Dr Suprabhat Shrestha appointed Nepal Medical Council registrar

Kathmandu, August 21

Dr Suprabhat Shrestha has been appointed registrar of the Nepal Medical Council. Shrestha took the oath of office and secrecy before Health and Food Hygiene Minister Nisha Mehta on Friday.

A dentist and orthodontics specialist, Dr Shrestha has extensive experience in the council’s regulatory, examination, medical education and administrative affairs.

Dr Shrestha holds a BDS degree from VMS Dental College in Tamil Nadu and a doctorate in stomatology from Volgograd State Medical University in Russia.

He served as an ex-officio member of the Medical Council from 2014 to 2016 and as a nominated member from 2019 to 2023. During his tenure at the council, he served as coordinator of committees dealing with education, examinations, professional ethics and procurement.
