Police Inspector Suraj Khatri has been named the Outstanding Police Officer for the month of Shrawan.
Khatri, who is serving at the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, received the award for his significant contribution to crime investigation. SSP Santosh Khadka, chief of the Crime Investigation Office, presented the award to him.
Khatri, who works under Pillar No. 4 of the office, has investigated serious crimes including gang-related activities, kidnapping and murder. He is regarded as an accomplished crime investigator.
His team recently successfully investigated a case in which a young man was abducted from Kalanki, taken to Nagarjun and held hostage.
The victim was allegedly beaten with a plastic pipe and tortured while being held captive, with the abductors demanding a ransom of Rs 1.8 million. The victim was rescued, and seven people allegedly involved in the kidnapping were arrested.
For the first time in the history of the Crime Investigation Office, the office itself has filed a case in connection with the kidnapping. Previously, the office had authority to investigate cases but did not have the authority to prosecute them.
