New Family Girls’ Hostel in Balkumari, Kathmandu, has been fined Rs 300,000 and sealed following an inspection.
Police said the hostel was fined after inspectors found problems with its cleanliness and the condition of the food items being stored and served.
The action followed a video that went viral on social media showing the hostel operator allegedly misbehaving with and threatening a female student after she complained about finding an insect in the food served at the hostel.
Based on the complaint received through social media, a joint team from the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, and Koteshwor Police inspected the hostel.
