Two employees of Nepal Airlines have been arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport for allegedly carrying foreign currency exceeding the prescribed limit.
The arrested employees have been identified as Mamata Pandey of Gorkha and Janani Bajracharya of Kathmandu. According to Airport Security Office SP Raj Kumar Silwal, they were preparing to travel to Malaysia with amounts exceeding the permitted limit.
Authorities seized $4,300 and 12,372 Malaysian ringgit from Janani. Similarly, $4,200 and 12,328 Malaysian ringgit were recovered from Mamata.
Both arrested employees have been sent to the Department of Money Laundering Investigation in Pulchowk for further investigation.
