Landslides and floods triggered by continuous rain have blocked roads in various parts of the country. According to the information shared by the Nepal Police, until 9 am today, traffic has been affected on some highways and road sections in different districts due to this. Considering the possibility of flooding on the Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunje Bensi road section of the BP Highway connecting Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli, traffic has been stopped from 6 pm to 4 am.
It has been announced that vehicles will be allowed to operate from 4 am to 6 pm on this road section. Vehicular movement has also been stopped at Kanti Lokpath in Makawanpur at night. The police have informed that traffic on this road has been banned from 5 pm to 5 am, police said.
The Mechi Highway is completely blocked at Rajduwali, Ilam Municipality-9, because the road got muddy due to the rain. However, an alternative road is operational in that area. Landslides have completely blocked the road at Charkilo in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-4 along the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok. In Ekuma, Kodari of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2, a landslide of stones, mud, and debris has blocked the road.
Also, in Liping of the same Municipality-2, the road collapsed, causing the Araniko Highway to be blocked as well. The dirt road from Trishuli–Mailung–Syaphrubesi in Khalte, Ward No. 5 of Uttargaya Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, is completely blocked after the Trishuli River eroded it. The Bheri Corridor road from Jajarkot to Dolpa at Rijegad Khola in Aathbiskot Municipality-6, Rukum West, is blocked due to a landslide. The Mid-Hill Highway in Bhume Rural Municipality-4, Kadabagar and Bhume Rural Municipality-5, Dhaulapahira, in Rukum East is also completely blocked because of a landslide.
Similarly, the mid-hill highway has been blocked by landslides at Bimirebhanjyang in Lamjung’s Madhyapur Municipality-10, and the Besisahar-Manang road has been completely blocked by a landslide at Kharkhare in Besisahar Municipality-6. The police have reported that the Beni–Jomsom road is completely blocked due to a landslide at Baiseri in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2 and at Mahabhir in Annapurna Rural Municipality-7 of Myagdi.
