NOC increases gas imports ahead of elections, 138 bullets enter in a single day

Kathmandu, February 25

The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the import of cooking gas in view of the upcoming elections, with a total of 138 gas bullets entering the country in a single day. The corporation said it has further strengthened the supply system of Liquefied Petroleum (LP) gas nationwide to ensure smooth availability during the election period.

Executive Director Chandika Prasad Bhatt informed that the volume of gas imports has been significantly increased to address possible surges in demand during the elections. According to Bhatt, the highest volume of gas for this year was loaded from the Indian Oil Corporation on Tuesday and dispatched to Nepal.

NOC stated that a total of 138 gas bullets were loaded from various depots on Tuesday alone, which is equivalent to approximately 173,800 cylinders. As per the corporation, 36 bullets were loaded from Barauni depot, 36 from Mathura, 40 from Paradip, 24 from Durgapur, and 2 from Haldia, totalling 138 bullets for Nepal.

Bhatt said the corporation remains alert to prevent any shortage of gas during the election period and has ensured regular supply arrangements. “We are importing gas in higher volumes considering the elections,” Bhatt said. “Consumers will be able to access gas easily even during the election period. We urge them not to worry about supply.”
