Kathmandu, January 23
A total of 49 candidates have withdrawn their candidacy across the country.
According to Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, 3,487 candidates had filed nominations nationwide. Of them, 49 candidates have withdrawn their candidacy.
“The Commission has received information that a total of 49 candidates have withdrawn their nominations across the country,” Bhattarai said at a press conference organised by the Commission on Friday.
Similarly, claims and objections were filed against five candidates. Of these, the candidacy of one candidate was cancelled, while the remaining four were upheld, he added.
