Kathmandu, January 23
At least 13 people were injured in a clash that broke out at the Bhaktapur Juvenile Correction Home on Thursday night. Of the injured, two are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Following the incident, all 162 juveniles were relocated, and the correction home was evacuated.
According to Prakash Jagebu, spokesperson for the Bhaktapur District Police Office and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), the clash erupted after one group allegedly began bullying and assaulting another. The situation escalated into violence, during which arson was also reported.

Police reached the scene after receiving information about the clash around midnight. However, when the police team attempted to enter the facility to bring the situation under control, they were pelted with stones by those inside, forcing them to hold back.
“When police tried to enter the facility to rescue the injured, we were attacked instead. They also set fire to the juvenile correction home,” a police official said.

There were a total of 164 juveniles at the facility. After the building was damaged by arson, all of them were transferred. DSP Jagebu said they have been placed under supervision at juvenile monitoring units of the District Police Offices in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur.
