Candidates aged 36–50 dominate the race

A total of 3,484 candidates have filed nominations for the 165 seats to be elected through the first-past-the-post system.

According to Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, of the total candidates, 395 are women, and 3,088 are men.

In terms of age, the largest number of candidates falls in the 36–50 age group.

The Election Commission stated that there are 583 candidates in the 25–35 age group. Of them, 67 are women and 515 are men.

There are 1,610 candidates in the 36–50 age group, including 235 women and 1,375 men.

The total number of candidates aged 51–65 stands at 1,090. This group includes 90 women and 1,000 men.

There are 201 candidates aged above 65, of whom three are women and 198 are men.

According to the Election Commission, 68 political parties have fielded candidates in the election.
