Kathmandu, December 23
Rabilakshmi Chitrakar, the wife of former prime minister Jhalnath Khanal, who was seriously injured after being burned in an arson incident at her own home during the Gen Z protests, has returned home after completing treatment in India.
She returned to Kathmandu on Monday evening.
Chitrakar was initially treated at the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur. After she developed a fever and pneumonia, she was taken to India for further treatment.
Speaking after her return, Chitrakar said she has no complaints or demands from the state. However, she urged the government to identify and take action against those who, under the guise of the innocence of youths, attempted to destroy the country during the Gen Z movement.
“This is my only expectation from the state: those who tried to destroy the country by hiding behind the mask of youthful innocence must be identified and punished by this government,” she said upon her return.
She received treatment at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, India.
During the course of treatment, her left arm had to be amputated. Doctors said that after the arson incident, a large amount of smoke had entered her lungs, causing severe complications.
