Kathmandu, December 22
Police have released Ravikiran Hamal and others who were briefly detained following a protest at Maitighar. Hamal was among five individuals taken into custody for a short period after participating in a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala, organised by youths including Miraj Dhungana, demanding the formation of an all-party government.
The protesters called for elections to be held only after the formation of an all-party government. They carried placards reading, “Gen Z’s demand is not elections, but good governance.” Although Dhungana and others had prepared to offer a collective arrest, police stopped them within the premises of the District Government Attorney’s Office area and later released those detained.
