‘Nyano Chha’ winter exhibition showcases warmth through art

Kathmandu, December 5

“Nyano Chha,” a winter exhibition curated by Sanod Maharjan of Kalamagree, opened on Thursday at Tara Marg, Sinamangal, bringing together a diverse group of contemporary artists exploring the idea of warmth in uncertain times. The exhibition, which runs from December 4 to 10 is part of Kalamagree’s annual Art Bazaar event that also features pop-up stalls, food, and community gatherings.

The exhibition emerges “in the heart of winter as a gentle reminder that warmth is not only something we seek outside, but something we carry, create, and share,” the curatorial note states. It highlights artworks rooted in memory, resilience, softness, and belonging — themes reflected across a wide range of mediums and styles.

Each piece, according to the curatorial concept, offers its own version of warmth, whether through personal histories, collective memory, or the tenderness embedded in everyday experiences. “Nyano Chha is not just a theme; it is a feeling,” the curator writes, inviting viewers to slow down, breathe, and find comfort in colours, textures, stories, and community.

Participating artists include Chandra Magar, Dikshya Rai, Kala Limbu, Karuna Shrestha, Nilesh Onta, Nikhil Shakya, Nano Fung Chemjong Limbu, Purushottam Chaudhary, Subodh Limbu, Suman Rana Magar, and Sundar Lama.

Organisers say the exhibition aims to honour the many ways artists continue to create warmth amidst shifting worlds. Visitors can experience the artworks and the bazaar atmosphere from 1 pm to 7 pm throughout the three-day event.
