Landslides and mudslides block BP Highway in Kavrepalanchok

Kathmandu, October 31

Vehicular movement along several sections of the BP Highway in Kavrepalanchok has been completely blocked due to landslides and mudslides.

Vehicles heading east have been stopped at Bhakunde in Kavrepalanchok as it will take time to clear the obstructions and resume traffic on the highway.

According to police, continuous rainfall has triggered landslides at Chowkidanda, Nangsala Crusher in Charasyabesi, Bokshikuna, and Mamti, blocking the road.

Similarly, the highway has also been fully obstructed by mudslides at Narke, Pinthalibesi, and Biruwadanda.

Inspector Ishwar Karki, chief of the Area Police Office in Mangaltar, informed that another landslide occurred from above while they were clearing debris at Chowkidanda. Due to ongoing rainfall and increased risk, the clearance work has been halted for now.

Kavre District Police Chief Komal Shah said that it will take time to remove the obstructions within Kavre and resume highway operations. He urged travelers to check road conditions before starting their journey.
