Nawalpur, October 30
The Daunne section of the Narayanghat–Butwal road along the East–West Highway has been blocked due to heavy rainfall.
District Police Office spokesperson Madhu Nepal said the road, which had been operating one-way for maintenance, became impassable early this morning.
“The road at Bishwokarma Temple and Ghyukhola areas in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality–2 has been blocked due to the rain,” Nepal said. “Vehicles heading west have been unable to move as the road has become muddy and slippery. Police have been deployed to manage the traffic and prevent traffic congestion.”
Nepal is currently under the influence of two weather systems, one originating in the Bay of Bengal and the other from the Arabian Sea causing widespread rainfall across the country.
Heavy rainfall has been forecast for some areas of Koshi and Madhesh provinces today and tomorrow, with authorities urging residents to take necessary precautions.
