Sheep and Himalayan goats brought to Sallaghari, Bhaktapur for Dashain

Kathmandu, September 24

Sheep and Himalayan mountain goats (chyāngra) brought from Mustang for the upcoming Dashain festival have been delivered to Sallaghari, Bhaktapur.

Traders in Bhaktapur are selling live chyāngra at Rs 1,300 per kilogram. According to trader Chitra Bahadur Silwal, transportation costs have increased as local governments along the Mustang–Kathmandu route impose taxes at different points.

He said the animals are sold only after veterinary doctors conduct health checks. The Department of Livestock Services has arranged health inspections of livestock and poultry at Sallaghari from September 22 to October 1.

Meanwhile, the Food Management and Trading Company has announced that it will not be selling goats, rams, or chyāngra this year.
