Kathmandu, June 5
DSP Subhadra Waiba, stationed at the Simara Area Police Office in Bara, has been transferred to the Police Headquarters in Naxal, Kathmandu.
Police headquarters stated that Waiba was recalled for internal clarifications. SSP Ramesh Thapa, central spokesperson for Nepal Police, confirmed the decision, saying it was made based on organisational needs. DSP Bed Joshi has been assigned to replace Waiba in Simara.
Waiba had not completed six months in her post. Sources close to her claimed that tensions had recently escalated between her and Shantiraj Prasai, the administrative officer (under-secretary) of Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City.
The local administration accused her of tearing a fuel coupon. Sources also claimed that Prasai threatened her with a transfer for not briefing him about the matter—despite the fact that administrative officers are not legally required to report on criminal investigations or peace and security matters.
