
Kathmandu, June 4
A man died after being struck by an electric pole during road maintenance work in Lalitpur.
The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Ramesh Khadgi, a resident of the same area, according to SSP Shyam Krishna Adhikari of the Lalitpur District Police Office.
The incident occurred while a bulldozer was digging the road. A JCB machine (Province 3-01-003 K 6742) was being used to support and shift the electric pole, but it collapsed, fatally injuring Khadgi who was standing nearby observing the repair work.
He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Following the incident, locals staged a protest by burning tires in the Tika Bhairab area of Thecho.
Currently, a discussion is underway at the Satdobato Police Circle involving representatives from the Nepal Electricity Authority, the contractor, and the victim’s family.
