Kathmandu, August 14
Ruling Nepal Communist Party lawmaker Shanta Chaudhary has joined a government school in Kathmandu to study sociology in the 11th grade.
Chaudhary could not go to school in childhood as she was employed as a bonded labourer in her home district of Dang. She says she started school just a few years ago after she felt disrespected due to her inability to sign her name during her first term as the lawmaker.
She had passed the 10th-grade Secondary Education Examination a few months ago. Her son has already passed the 12th grade whereas her daughter passed the 10th grade along with the mother this year.
For further studies, the leader joined the Ratna Rajya Laxmi Secondary School located in Madhya Baneshwar of Kathmandu. Teachers and students of the school welcomed her on Wednesday morning.
Chaudhary says she chose the institute as it was close to the Parliament building. However, she admits that she might not be able to attend all the classes due to various meetings.
