Kathmandu, August 2
Two men cleaning the pipeline laid for the Melamchi Drinking Water project in Kathmandu have died due to suffocation, police said.
Twenty-five-year-old Suresh Shah and 20-year-old Shivaram Shah died while receiving treatment at Teaching Hospital in Kathamndu. They were working on a section of the pipeline in Kathmandu-16 Balaju. Both the deceased hail from Saptari.
“They entered the pipeline and did not return for a long time. It was then that their co-workers went to look for them,” said a police official at the scene. An investigation is on.
The incident comes two years after three labourers were buried while laying water pipes at Shitapaila Chowk in June 2017.
