Kathmandu, June 20
Five leaders of the banned communist party led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ have been arrested in Kathmandu on Thursday.
A team deployed from the Metropolitan Crime Division arrested the party’s Ramechhap district incharge Kul Deep Tamang, Dolakha district incharge Yadav Dahal, secretary Bishal Jirel, student union leader Mukundra Shrestha and Udayapur district leader Bishal Tamang, according to the Division chief Sahakul Bahadur Thapa.
Police also confiscated some fliers issued by the party from their possession.
It has been learned that the party was planning to stage a torch rally in the valley this evening and they were in Kathmandu to prepare for the event.
In their statements to police, the arrstees, however, did not accept their involvement in the plan.
Further investigation is underway.
