Kathmandu, August 3
Malaysia’s Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran is coming to Nepal soon for a discussion with Nepali labour officials on how the halted recruitment of Nepali workers for Malaysian jobs can resume.
After the Minister expressed his desire to visit Kathmandu during a meeting with officials of the Kuala Lumpur-based Nepali Embassy, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security in Kathmandu has sent an invitation to him via the Ministry of Human Resources, according to sources.
After Nepal halted sending workers to Malaysia after many agencies were found to be cheating workers, many Malaysian companies are reeling under human resource crisis.
Nepal has been pressing the Kuala Lumpur government to recruit workers through a government-to-government channel.
Of late, it has been reported that Minister Kulasegaran is positive about Nepal’s proposal and he has already tabled a proposal to launch the G2G recruitment.
Meanwhile, Nepal is planning to discuss the draft of a labour agreement to be signed with Malaysia during the Minister’s visit.
