Prachanda-Xi meeting: China to provide Rs 140m assistance for civic polls

Kathmandu, March 27

Chinese President Xi Jinping has said Beijing will provide assistance worth over Rs 140 million to Nepal to conduct civic elections in May.

President Xi met Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing where the two leaders discussed Nepal-China ties and ways of taking it forward, the PM’s secretariat said.

Both leaders had an open conversation and the talks were really encouraging, Prime Minister Dahal, who went to China to attend the Boao Forum in Hinan, was quoted as saying.

“I found the President positive on issues raised by Nepal. The President himself said he wants to see political stability and development in Nepal. He also talked about infrastructure, railway and the Tatopani border trading point,” said the Prime Minister’s secretariat.
