Energy minister says army will be mobilised if hydro projects obstructed

Kathmandu, February 19

Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has said that the government would mobilise the army if work on any hydropower project was obstructed.

Minister Rayamajhi, who was speaking at a programme in Kathmandu, said that public offense cases will be filed against those who obstruct construction work.

The minister said that the next year would be a milestone for the energy sector in Nepal. A total of 250-300 MW of solar energy will be added to the grid, and an additional 250-300 MW will be imported from India.

“Prime Minister Oli, during his trip to India, will inaugurate the Muzaffarpur-Dhalkebar transmission line which will be used to import 80 MW from India.”
