A 7-year-old boy died after being hit by a motorcycle in Durgapur, Ward 13 of Golbazar Municipality, Sirah.
Police say Ayanas Yadav, son of resident Ramdayal Yadav, was crossing the road near Laxmi Temple in Durgapur around 8 a.m. Tuesday when a motorcycle (registration Pra 2-01-001 Pa 6856) heading from Golbazar toward Durgapur struck him.
The boy sustained injuries to several parts of his body. He was rushed to Life Long Health Care in Golbazar, where doctors declared him dead at 8:30 a.m. after an ECG, according to police inspector and acting spokesperson Naresh Limbu of the District Police Office, Sirah.
Limbu said the motorcycle was found at the scene, but the rider fled and has not yet been identified. Police have launched a search to trace and identify him, and a seven-member team led by Inspector Deepak Kharel of the Golbazar Area Police Office has been deployed to the site to investigate further.
