New government within three weeks: Mahara

Dang, December 22

Maoist Centre senior leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara says the Left Alliance will form the new government within the next two weeks.

Mahara, who was talking to mediapersons in Dang on Friday morning, said the alliance will kickstart the process to form the new government immediately after the Election Commission announces the results for the PR seats.

“If there is no hindrance from any side, the new government will take charge in three weeks,” Mahara said adding that the alliance has the numbers in Parliament to form the new government.

Mahara’s statement comes as the Nepali Congress and the UML are engaged in a heated debate over the election of members of the National Assembly. While the Nepali Congress is in favour of the single-transferable-vote system, the UML has vehemently opposed it. A meeting of five major political parties convened by the Prime Minister on Friday has ended without an agreement on the issue.
