Nepalis in US donate Rs 20 million to Dhurmus-Suntali foundation

Kathmandu, April 3

A group of Nepalis living in the United States have contributed Rs 20 million to the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation which has been building an integrated settlement for the Mushaar community in Bardibas Mahottari.

The foundatiation, run by Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus) and Kunjana Ghimire (Suntali), is preparing to handover the settlement to the community, considred one of the most underprivileged in Nepal’s plains, after 10 days.

The group, Association of Nepalis in Minesotta, donated Rs 20.10 million to the foundation after reports in the media that it was short of funds. The association’s board members Anil Rayamajhi and Sweety Singh handed over the amount to the duo amid a programme at the settlement in Mahottari.

Rayamajhi said his organisation was proud to help the noble work of the foundation. Kattel, who is the chairman of the foundation, said it can now hand-over the settlement without any difficulty.
