Kathmandu, August 27
As of Thursday morning, 26 people injured in the devastating flood that swept from Tibet into Rasuwa have been brought to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for treatment.
The hospital said a 25-year-old man among them died during treatment.
According to Teaching Hospital spokesperson Dr Gopal Sedhain, six of the injured brought to the hospital are currently being treated in the ICU.
He said the hospital has received information that an additional 50 to 60 injured people from the flood-affected areas may arrive for treatment.
The hospital has already made necessary preparations in anticipation of this patient load, he added.
“We’re estimating that around 50 to 60 more patients could come in. We’ve made our hospital preparations accordingly,” spokesperson Dr Sedhain told Onlinekhabar.
He said that among the additional injured expected, the majority are anticipated to have general injuries rather than critical conditions requiring ICU care.
The hospital said it has kept its treatment teams and necessary services on standby to manage the potential patient load.
The devastating flood that came from Tibet has caused major loss of life and property in the Rasuwa area. As rescue and relief operations continue in the affected region, injured people continue to be sent to various hospitals for treatment. Relatives searching for those who have lost contact have also been arriving at hospitals.
