209 international flights affected after volcanic eruption in Indonesia

Kathmandu, September 6

Flight operations at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport have been affected by ash from the eruption of Indonesia’s Anak Krakatau volcano.

Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation said 209 flights, including international services, were affected after flights were suspended.

The volcano began erupting on Friday night, and the ash spread to Lampung in Sumatra and Banten Province on Java, disrupting daily life in the affected areas.

Several schools have been closed due to the ash, while fishing activities have also been suspended. The disaster mitigation agency, however, said there was no immediate risk of a tsunami.
