Five dead, 25 injured in Trishuli bus fall

Dhading, May 19

Five people have died after a bus coming to Kathmandu from Kakarbhitta of Jhapa fell into the Trishuli river in Dhadhing district on Sunday morning.

Twenty-five passengers were injured after the bus (Na 7 Kha 4387) fell in the river near Gajuri Municipality.

DIG Deepak Thapa informs that four of the five dead bodies have been recovered, whereas body of one of the deceased is still in the water. “Bodies of two men and two women have been recovered. We’re trying to get the last body out. We haven’t been able to identify the deceased,” says Thapa.

Three of the 25 who are injured are in a critical state. They have been brought to Kathmandu for further treatment. Rest are being treated at a health post in Gajuri.

Police are yet to determine the cause of the accident.
