Everest Base camp abuzz with mountaineers from around the world

The Everest Base Camp, which remains deserted during the winter, is currently abuzz with around 400 people including Sherpa guides, mountaineers and high altitude workers.

As many as 20 mountaineering expedition teams have arrived at the Everest Base Camp (EBC) as they prepare to climb Mt Everest, Mt Lhotse and Mt Nhutse.

Among the teams, 16 will scale Everest, two Mt Lhotse and two Mt Nhutse. They arrived on Sunday, according to Everest Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) official Kapindra Rai.

The SPCC, which maintains a record of the expeditions, says the teams will take the same route from the EBC up till Camp 3 on Everest from where the route to Lhotse and Nhutse separates.
