Biplav-led party says its cadres didn’t open fire on police

Kathmandu, March 21

The Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal has rubbished police’s claim that Chand’s cadres fired shots at the police in an encounter on Tuesday.

In a statement, senior leader of the splinter group Hemanta Prakash Oli ridiculed the claims and said police opened fire on unarmed people.

The statement comes two days after police said they opened fire on cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal at Roshi Rural Municipality in Kavre on Tuesday evening after the splinter group’s cadres fired at them.

“Right now attacking police and security forces isn’t on our agenda because our rebellion against chrony capitalism is still ongoing,” the release read.

The release also stated that the government and chief of security forces were creating an environment for a civil war which would benefit them. The release also stated that the government was going against the party’s leaders and cadres to hide its failures.
