Banke, September 27
Continuous rain combined with a windstorm on Saturday has damaged paddy crops in Banke.
According to farmer Hemraj Kandu of Nepalgunj-19, Manipur, the storm has flattened rice in most fields there. Rice has also been knocked down in the field of Sujan Thapa of Duduwa Rural Municipality-5.
Sujita Sharma, senior agriculture extension officer at the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, said the full extent of the damage has not yet been assessed, and noted that paddy has been planted across 33,503 hectares in the district.
