Kathmandu, September 17
United School has inaugurated its second KUMON Lab at its premises in Imadol, Lalitpur, expanding its capacity to offer the KUMON self-learning programme in mathematics and English.
The facility was inaugurated on September 15 by United School Founder Director Nara Hang Rai in the presence of Yusuke Yoshikawa, CEO of Colorbath, Japan, and Bikash Lama, CEO of IGC Holdings.
The KUMON Lab is designed as a structured learning space where students develop mathematics and English skills through independent study and personalised worksheets. The programme is available to students from Year 2 and is intended to strengthen numeracy, literacy, problem-solving and independent learning skills.
According to the school, the second lab will accommodate students already enrolled in the programme and create additional space for new learners.
The KUMON programme will operate alongside the school’s regular academic curriculum, with a dedicated teacher overseeing the lab.
United School Principal Manoj Bishwokarma said the new facility was aimed at promoting independent learning among students by combining technology with the KUMON learning approach.
KUMON, founded in Japan by Toru Kumon in 1958, is a self-learning method focused on mathematics and reading. The school said its KUMON programme is part of its broader efforts to provide students with exposure to STEM education and hands-on learning.
