Transport federation urges caution in road travel amid rainfall forecast

Kathmandu, October 30

The Nepal National Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs has urged the public to be cautious while travelling by road.

The federation issued the appeal following forecasts of rainfall in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces from the night of October 29 through October 31.

Strong winds and moderate rainfall have been forecast in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, while snowfall is expected in higher-altitude areas.

The federation has urged its member transport operators to be cautious while operating both long- and short-distance services.

It has advised tourists against travelling to high-hill and Himalayan regions and urged those who have already reached such areas to remain in safe locations.

The federation has also called for suspending vehicle movement if necessary and informing the public in advance of such decisions.

It has urged people to avoid non-essential travel during the period of adverse weather and coordinate with government agencies.
