Tomatoes have become more expensive in the market. According to data released Thursday by the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market Development Committee, prices for all types of tomatoes have risen.
Today, the price of large Nepali tomatoes rose the most, up 15.38 percent. Large Nepali tomatoes, which had an average wholesale price of Rs 65 per kg on Wednesday, reached Rs 75 per kg on Thursday.
Similarly, the price of large Indian tomatoes also rose by 13.33 percent. The price of large Indian tomatoes, which stood at Rs 75 per kg the previous day, has now risen to Rs 85.
The increase was not limited to large tomatoes; small tomatoes saw a similar rise in price. The average price of local small tomatoes rose from Rs 47 per kg to Rs 55 per kg, a 15.30 percent increase.
Likewise, the committee reported that the price of tunnel-grown small tomatoes rose 12 percent, from Rs 61 per kg to Rs 68. This data from the Market Development Committee shows that tomato prices rose by Rs 7 to Rs 10 per kilogram in a single day.
