Monsoon winds remain active across Nepal, with rain and thunderstorms expected in several parts of the country on Wednesday, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The monsoon low-pressure line is currently around its average position, while most of the country is expected to remain cloudy throughout the day.
Light to moderate rainfall is currently being reported in some parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
The weather division has forecast moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in several mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as some mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Many hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces are also likely to receive moderate rainfall with thunderstorms. Similar conditions are expected in some hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Some areas of Madhesh and the Tarai belts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces are also likely to receive moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Heavy rainfall is possible at a few locations in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces and the hilly areas of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
The weather division has forecast generally cloudy conditions across the country tonight as well. Several mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and some mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are expected to receive moderate rain and snowfall with thunderstorms.
Many hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and some hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces may receive moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.
Some parts of the Tarai are also likely to receive moderate rain with thunderstorms.
Heavy rainfall is possible at a few locations in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, as well as the hilly and Tarai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
The weather division has urged people in areas at risk of heavy rainfall to remain alert to possible debris flows, floods, landslides and soil erosion.
It also warned that rainfall could affect daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road transport and air services in the affected areas, and advised people to stay updated with weather information.
