The Department of Immigration has extended the service period from February 13. The department will provide its services seven days a week from 8 am to 8 pm. Previously, the office hours were only from 10 am to 5 pm, and there used to be holidays on public holidays.

Rudra Singh Tamang, director general of the department, informed that the time has been extended to provide easy and fast service to those who are in the country and abroad. “With the provision of e-visa, applications are being made from abroad. The working time of those who are in Europe and the USA does not match Nepal’s working time, which hinders them from getting their visa quickly. That’s why the time for services has been extended.”

As written in the notice issued by Rewati Raman Sharma, director of the Tourist Visa Section at the department, the application and approval for pre-arrival Nepal e-visa; addition of tourist visa; conversion from non-tourist visa to tourist visa; issuance of non-tourist visa and issuance of trekking permit will be done during the added time. The department has asked to see the method uploaded on the department’s website for the application and receipt process for e-visa.

It is mentioned in the notification that before 10 am and after 5 pm visa fee payment can be done only through the online payment system. Director General Tamang said that the payment will be done online as the banks may be closed. According to him, payment can be made through any bank’s app. According to the department, payment can be made through Phone Pay, Connect IPS and wallet through pocket and e-services.
