Tara Air plane goes missing along Pokhara-Jomsom sector

A plane with 23 crew and passengers on board went missing on Wednesday morning.

The Tara Air flight with call sign 9-AHH had taken off from Pokhara at 7.55 am for Jomsom, Kaski chief district officer Hari Prasad Mainali told Onlinekhabar. The flight lost contact at 8.10 am, he said. Mainali added that a search for the missing plane is on.

Two helicopters — one private and the other belonging to the Nepali Army — have deployed for the search of the misisng plane, Surya Bahadur Khatri, information officer at the Civil Aviation Office, Jomsom, told Onlinekhabar.

Marketing manager for Tara Air, Bhim Raj Rai, says they had purchased the plane that went missing in September, 2015. According to Rai, there were 21 individuals on board — three crew and 18 passengers.

CDO Mainali, however, told Onlinekhabar that there were 23 people on board.
