A policeman died on the spot after an SUV hit him on Thursday night in Kohalpur, Banke.
The SUV (Bhe 1 Cha 3407) heading to the east from the west hit 29-year-old policeman Bishal Oli.
Likewise, the assistant head constable of Nepal Police Lal Bahadur Budhachhetri, 32, was seriously injured in the accident.
Budhachhetri has been airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment after the basic treatment at Kohalpur Medical College, according to the spokesperson of the District Police Office, Banke, Narayan Dangi.
Both Oli and Budhachhetri were on duty at Madanchowk of Kohalpur along the East-West Highway. Budhachhetri has injuries in the head, face and chest.
The SUV driver Arjun Basnet has absconded from the scene.
