Stock market dips after Dashain, but manufacturing and trading groups draw buyers

NEPSE

Kathmandu, October 26

The stock market, which rose for seven straight trading days before Dashain, fell on the first trading day after the festival.

On Monday, the NEPSE index fell 4.34 points. After the decline, NEPSE stands at 2,629 points. The prices of 99 companies rose, 171 fell and 6 remained unchanged.

Turnover also fell. Compared with the previous Rs 4.88 billion, today’s turnover was Rs 4 billion.

Today, however, there was interest in the manufacturing and processing, and trading groups. The manufacturing and processing group rose 1.03 percent and the trading group 1.11 percent. The trading group rose because the price of its Bishal Bazar Company increased 1.41 percent. Only two companies, Bishal Bazar and Salt Trading, belong to this group. Because of its high capitalisation, Bishal Bazar alone influences the whole group.

Similarly, rising prices of cement companies lifted the manufacturing and processing group. The recently listed Beni Hydropower had the biggest gain, up 15 percent.

Upper Mailung Khola Hydropower rose 5.81 percent, Sonapur Cement 5.07, Sagarmatha Hydropower 4.72, Ghorahi Cement 4.47, Sanima Middle Tamor 3.84 and Sanigad Hydro 3.78 percent.

Chirkhwa Hydropower had the biggest fall, down 7.92 percent. Mahila Laghubitta Financial Institution fell 7.57 percent, Gurans Laghubitta 5.81, Asian Hydropower 4.34, Apollo Hydropower 4.16 and Shubham Power 4.11 percent.

The most traded companies today, in order, were Ghalemdi Hydropower, Shivam Cement, Mountain Energy, Green Ventures, Himalayan Distillery, Api Power, Sanima Bank and Sanima Middle Tamor.
