Simaltal landslide: Task force begins work

Kathmandu, July 17

A task force formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to study the incident of the disappearance of two buses and passengers in the Trishuli River has started working as per the given mandate.

The landslide that occurred in Chitwan metropolis-29, Simaltal of Chitwan last Friday swept away the two passenger-ferrying buses.

Assuming the office, newly-appointed Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak had formed a task force under the leadership of Joint Secretary of the Ministry Chhabi Rijal to study the incident and submit a report.

The task force has a 10-day mandate to carry out the investigation and submit the report. All 65 passengers travelling through the buses had gone missing in the river.

Bodies of 17 missing passengers have been found so far. The status of other passengers is unknown.
