Kanchanpur, September 27
Four-wheeled vehicles have been barred from crossing the Sharda Barrage after the water level in the Mahakali River crossed the danger mark following continuous rainfall.
According to police, vehicle movement was halted after the river’s water flow reached 197,774 cusecs.
The restriction applies to vehicles travelling in both directions between Nepal and India via the Sharda Barrage.
The Mahakali River has been rising steadily following continuous rainfall in the hilly districts of Sudurpaschim Province since Thursday night.
Authorities have also restricted the operation of short- and long-distance vehicles in the hill districts of Sudurpaschim due to the continued rainfall.
With weather conditions showing no significant improvement, the restrictions on vehicle movement have been extended until Monday morning.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel in areas affected by heavy rainfall and rising river levels.
