Kathmandu, August 28
The ‘Setu Rapid App’ has been launched to help trace people who have been missing since the Rasuwa floods.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) launched the app, with technical teams from other agencies also working on the platform, according to NDRRMA Undersecretary Ram Bahadur KC.
According to KC, relatives of missing people can submit their details through the app. So far, around 1,500 people have submitted forms.
However, KC said the number of forms does not necessarily represent the actual number of missing people, as there may be duplicate submissions. Relatives may have submitted the form multiple times for the same person, while some people listed as missing may have already been rescued or their bodies recovered.
He said the forms received through the app are treated as raw data and must be verified before the authorities can confirm the actual number of missing people.
According to him, the authorities have so far confirmed 977 people as missing.
Verification of the remaining cases is underway. KC said data collected today is expected to be available by the evening.
