Sashi’s Art Studio has organised its annual art exhibition and award ceremony in Kathmandu, providing a platform for emerging and established artists to showcase their work and gain recognition for their creative achievements.

The week-long exhibition, being held from May 29 to June 4 under the Shree Bidhya Dhis Rajbhandari Award program, features artworks by school students, bachelor-level fine arts students, freelance artists and adult learners. The exhibition highlights diverse themes ranging from cultural heritage and personal experiences to contemporary social issues and creative imagination.

The event also recognised Nhuja Shrestha as the recipient of this year’s Shree Bidhya Dhis Rajbhandari Award for outstanding artistic achievement and creative potential. As part of the award tradition, Shrestha will be given an opportunity to hold a solo exhibition in 2027.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, chief guest Dr Seema Sharma Shah, former head of the Central Department of Fine Arts at Tribhuvan University, emphasised the importance of awards in encouraging artistic growth and supporting young creators. She noted that recognition and financial assistance help artists continue their practice and contribute to the development of Nepali art.

The program has previously honoured Sumitra Baral in 2024 and Kabir Kayastha in 2025, both of whom have gone on to pursue significant artistic projects. Organisers said the initiative aims to strengthen Nepal’s artistic community by promoting creativity, mentorship and public engagement in the arts.
