Kathmandu, October 6
The government has opened route permits for public vehicles across Nepal for the Dashain festival period, from Ghatasthapana to Purnima.
The Department of Transport Management made the decision on Tuesday following a meeting with stakeholders.
Ghatasthapana, which marks the beginning of Dashain, falls on October 11 this year. The meeting also decided to open advance ticket bookings for Dashain travel from October 9.
However, the department said restrictions would remain in place for public vehicles that are prohibited from operating on particular roads due to the specific nature or conditions of those routes.
The move is aimed at facilitating the movement of passengers during the peak travel period as people across the country return to their hometowns for Dashain.
